Accident and hospital indemnity policies: Applied to bill Having one of these policies doesn’t stop you from qualifying. What it pays goes toward the bill; the rest is judged by your income. See the policy wording
Health plan: out-of-pocket assistance: Yes
Covers Orange, Seminole and Osceola counties. *Orlando Health's financial assistance web page says income at or below 225% FPL qualifies the whole bill. Above that, the policy describes a 60% discount on charges; confirm with Orlando Health before relying on it as free care.
One hospital handles the most serious cases. Orlando Regional Medical Center is the area's only Level I trauma center and its only burn unit. HCA Lake Monroe (Sanford) and HCA Osceola (Kissimmee) are Level II trauma centers.
AdventHealth has the clearest and most generous policy. Free care to 250% FPL, then 98% off for uninsured patients up to 400% FPL, with no residency or immigration rule stated.
Orlando Health reaches 300% FPL for uninsured patients, but check what "assistance" means. Its web page says income at or below 225% FPL qualifies the whole bill; above that, the policy describes a 60% discount on charges. Insured patients qualify only up to 225% FPL. Patients must live where Orlando Health operates hospitals.
HCA stops at 200%. That includes both Level II trauma centers, so a seriously injured patient at 250% FPL taken to Lake Monroe or Osceola gets only a partial discount.
Immigration: Orlando Health's policy is silent, but its application form limits aid to U.S. citizens with an SSN or lawfully present non-citizens with a government-issued tax ID (TIN). The other Orlando-area policies found state no immigration restriction.
Nemours Children's is free to 250% FPL. Its 2026 policy gives 80% off from 250% to 300% and is open to U.S. residents only; families recertify every year. Nemours Family Financial Services: 844-551-2065 (press 5 for Orlando).

At AdventHealth, having an accident or hospital indemnity policy doesn’t by itself stop you from qualifying. Expect the hospital to apply what the policy pays to your bill first; the rest of the bill is judged by your income. If the hospital asks about other insurance, benefits or income, tell them about your policy.
Health plan: out-of-pocket assistance: Yes. AdventHealth’s financial assistance can also help with what a health plan leaves you to pay, such as deductibles and copays.

How to ask for financial assistance at each Orlando hospital
No particular words make a patient qualify. Eligibility depends on income, household size, residency and sometimes immigration status, and patients must answer truthfully. What the right words do is make sure an eligible patient asks for the correct program, at the right time, without giving up help by accident. Read this before you need care.
